When I sat down to read this issue, the last way I expected to do was laugh out loud. Not because of the quality of this comic, but at the surprising level of humor that this comic delivered. That aside, this comic contained action, intrigue, and mystery galore. This comic offered a lot, and this is some of what I liked.
1. The meetings between the teammates was fantastic and quite hilarious. Not only with Vibe’s interactions to everyone, but with Hawkman, J’onn, and Katana as well.
2. The Secret Society contains Scarecrow and Professor Ivo. Aside from them, the rest of the Society remains to be revealed.
3. The team interacts with the real world President. I love it when real world events crossover into comics subtly.
4. The back up story is pretty damn fantastic. J’onn is definitely a bad ass.

Last issue was all chatter, with very little substance. This issue offered a lot more to the table. Aside from the moving and vivid art, Johns’ script was well paced and well timed. We got action in this, the promise of new members, and got our first taste as to how the team will interact with one another. In addition to that, they justified why every member of the team should be there. Of course DC did this as press leading up to the release, but the comic itself is organically justifying the presence of the characters involved.
Did you like this comic as well as you liked the last? Or are you still trying to hold out on this one?
Until the next time,
