It appears that DC has done away with their titled launches. The last few months have been sporadic with January, February, and March launching a total of 5 new series’. For the sake of this blog, I will lump them all together into a massive 4th wave. This means that the cancellation of DCU Presents and I, Vampire will preceed the launch of the 5th wave. We get two new titles in May, and I’m here to discuss what we can expect.
Snyderman- We know that Scott Snyder’s untitled Superman story is coming some time in 2013, given that the movie is released in the early summer, May seems like a logical point to launch an epic new Superman story. Though it could benefit most from a post movie launch. I’d say odds are about 50/50, both sides can make valid arguments.
Multiversity- Grant Morrison’s look into the DC multiverse has been in the works for a long time, and most of the internet exploded with the reveal that Ted Kord would be playing a major role in Earth 4. Despite this, we’ve heard even less about this than Snyderman. Plus fans have been holding their breath for a LONG time. I’d say this is less likely to launch in May, but it is definitely coming.
WildC.A.T.S- It has long been hinted and rumored that WildC.A.T.S was going to be included in the New 52. May seems to be the time. If you pay close attention to the recent Stormwatch solicitation (as I did), the team will be displaced in a different dimension. However what reads next is this “What team will take their place”. Now lets look at facts.
1. Stormwatch is a Wildstorm team with Wildstorm characters.
2. WildC.A.T.S is also a Wildstorm team with Wildstorm characters.
3. WildC.A.T.S is a team that has a history with fighting Daemonites and other cosmic baddies.
4. Stormwatch has ties to the Daemonites as well.
5. Warblade and Zealot will both be surfacing in a major way in March. Both are important members of the team.
6. Voodoo and Grifter have already enjoyed the spotlight in the New 52
7. Team 7 #7 see’s the introduction to a character unseen in the New 52. Could this be Spartan or Maul, two of the other leading members of the team?
Alright. Most of that is speculation, but this title certainly fits into place given the evidence above.
I will go out on a huge limb and say that WildC.A.T.S is definitely coming in May.
Now the other piece of information out their was given to me by one of my great followers @thelosttodd, whom personally was told over Twitter that a new DC project from Gail Simone was in the works. This would seem to invalidate the coming of Snyderman or Multiversity right away, as it is doubtful that she would helm WildC.A.T.S (though she had great success the last time she wrote a team of anti heroes). Instead we have to assume a whole new project entirely. What that is, is anyone’s guess. I’ll once again throw my usual suggestion of any Milestone, Steel, Cyborg, or The Outsiders series; but also will venture another guess. The Atom. Newsarama has listed the Atom twice on their list of titles to be included. Could this finally be time for an Atom series, and wouldn’t a fan favorite such as Ryan Choi have an even greater reception if he returned under the pen of Simone?
So there you have it. I’ll toss in a guess for WildC.A.T.S (90%) and an Atom series (60%). I’ll invite you all to venture some guesses of your own, and would love the feedback.
Until the next time

Gail Simone and Ryan Choi together again? YES PLEASE.
I know right? It would be the absolute best thing!
Gail Simone and a new Secret Six series? It could be a new way to introduce some villans into the DCU, especially with talk that year three of the new 52 will be full of interaction between characters.
I’d love for another Secret Six series, it wouldn’t even have to be the same cast. A few familiar faces among new ones. It’s a new universe, things would almost have to be different.
as long as gail simone is writing
Hahaha, that goes without saying. I wish she’d hop on quite a bit of what I read.
